Date: 27 June 2018Subject: Garnethill
MESSAGE SENT ON BEHALF OF CHRISTINE FRANCIS, DIVISIONAL MANAGER, TECHNICAL SERVICES, LAND AND ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES.
The tragic event of the Art School fire has resulted in temporary traffic management arrangements which may be subject to change due to the nature of this emergency.
I can confirm that these are temporary in nature and the roads will revert back to their former directions/restrictions following the removal of the exclusion zone, which may be some time yet. Information on traffic management is posted on the web site and is regularly updated . Residents are able to park with their permits in Park, Woodlands, Woodside and City Centre until further notice, which it is hoped, will in part compensate for the reduction of on road space available for parking in Garnethill.
As you are aware the Council was carrying out a review of parking in the Garnethill Area, however due to the ongoing disruption in the area we are going to postpone any further work on the scheme at this time. This is in light of the current situation as it would not be appropriate to advertise such a proposal, whilst the local community are dealing with this ongoing traumatic event.
I trust this is agreeable to you and should you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact my officer Mr Michael Beady.
