Garnethill does not itself have a health centre and many make use of, or are registered with, the nearby Woodside Health Centre (on Barr Street off Garscube Road). However this is due to be replaced by the end of 2018 by
a custom built Health and Care Centre located at Hinshaw Street at its junction with Garscube Road (heading to Queens Cross). The first sod was cut in July 2017 by Shona Robison MSP (Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing).
The facility will will provide a wide range of benefits for the community including the transfer of eight General Practices, a dental practice, a pharmacy and other primary and community care services from the current health centre, as well as the new services such as: specialist children’s services, alcohol and drug recovery services, social work services and an older person’s day care service.
Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (GCHSCP) is delivering this new Centre in partnership with with NHSGGC, Glasgow City Council and development partner Hub West Scotland and their main contractor Morgan Sindall. The new Centre is expected to be completed and operational by the end of 2018.
